Looking for an unique opportunity to stay on an original houseboat? This beautiful and fully furnished “Tjalk” from 1904 is in a very good condition and is moored along one of the most inspiring streets of Amsterdam: the Dijksgracht. It is available from April until the end of September 2020 being the best months of the year to enjoy everything this houseboat has to offer.

The houseboat/ship has been thoroughly painted, both on the inside and the outside and because of the windows along the side of the ship as well as on the roof, the light inside is amazing. The ship is perfect for either a single occupant or a couple.

Although it is a ship, all the facilities for comfortable living are present. With a length of 24 meters and a width  of almost 5 meters, there is lots of space inside for a proper bedroom with a wardrobe closet, bathroom and a split-level living room. The separate kitchen is an eyecatcher as it occupies the former captain’s cabin with a 360 degrees lookout over the Dijksgracht and immediate surroundings.

The Central Station is only 5-7 minutes away by bike and, for example, the Nemo Science Center (science museum) is within walking distance. Tram no. 26 is around the corner and when heading out of the city by car, the A10 highway is reachable in less than 10 minutes. At the end of the street there is a very popular riverside cafe (Hannekes Boom) and a climbing wall facility.

“De Vertrouwen” is one of 40 houseboats found along the Dijksgracht. The Dijksgracht is well-known as one of the greenest and most authentic streets in Amsterdam. It is considered part of the city centre, but does not get crowded at all. Between 5pm and 7am the street is only accessible for residential traffic (cars) so during the summer people often spend more time outside than inside. The outside “shared spaces” are used for gardening, working space and open-air communal dining with barbeques or sitting around a fire.

The monthly rent including utilities and such comes down to €1,850 with the security deposit being €3,300. Pets are allowed.

Amenities include:
– Internet connection;
– Both a washing machine and dryer;
– Refrigerator, dishwasher, 4-burner gas cooker and a combi oven;
– A blender, mixer and coffee maker as additional kitchen equipment;
– A parking spot free of charge.
